Letter 3
Al Gore
Al Gore’s speech is dealing with the impact and importance of climate change. In the past, all the natural disasters were never related to the climate change and only a very few people would pay attention to the correlation between the two. But this is a big mistake because nowadays, we know that it is totally related.
Nowadays, as well as before, not a lot of persons really talk about climate change as a serious problem that should be taken care of as soon as possible. And if they do, everybody will listen but nobody would truly commit to make any kind of changes in their daily lives. Nobody feels really directly involved or concerned with this issue. The reasons are very simple. First of all, the people think that the climate change won’t affect them directly. And second of all, they do not see how the commitment that they would make to save the planet would benefit them. Somebody needs to tell them not what it would do for the planet but maybe tell them more what it would do for them. People tend to be a little selfish and not really thinking about the future generations that will have to live with all the problems created by our mistakes, ignorance and selfishness. The big companies and local governments need to understand what profit they could get out of this commitment to one of the many climate change programs that exist.
Once those big companies will understand that climate change is directly related with business, they will feel more involved. There are a lot of things to do in order to make people get interested in this problem like ads, posters or commercials. A better job needs to be done prevention wise and to explain why it is crucial to be careful of the planet natural resources for us but also for the future generations, our children, grand children…
Everybody’s help will be needed to reach this goal. We need to be as many as possible and well organized. We need to make people understand that each one of us has a role to play in this. We need to tell them what little things they could do to help minimize the climate change. A lot of people are willing to do it but are not necessarily aware of what they could do; switch off the light every time they get out of a room, take their bikes, subway or walk to go somewhere and not drive everywhere If everybody is motivated to do these little things it will make a huge difference.
I think it is time to be aware of the consequences of our lifestyle on planet earth. The natural resources are becoming rare and we something forget that we need to be careful of them. Myself, I sometimes forget to turn the lights off when I get out of a room or turn the TV off when I’m not really watching it but all these little things could make a huge difference. It is sometimes hard to think about it but everyone can make the efforts.
I know that it is possible to make these changes. Regular people like me will start the movement and I hope a lot of others will be willing to continue to fight for our earth that will soon die if we don’t take this issue of climate change more seriously. Climate change is a serious issue that still can be prevent. I think it is time to act right now before it is too late.

Letters' comments
This letter has been written by an anonymous passenger.
The topic of the letter is to complain about, first, the food that the company gave him during the flight and second the terrible quality of the movies the company was showing to the passengers.
He describes the texture and the colors of the food with a lot of details. He even took pictures to show that even if his descriptions and his reaction seem over the top, they are actually not because the way he describes it is exactly how it was. Everything looks disgusting and nobody would risk to taste something that looks like that. It is pretty crazy.
He tells us how hard it was for him to watch the movie because of the white stripes that was on the screen. He couldn't even tell what actors were in the movies. He also explains that just by trying to watch it his head started to hurt. He finally gave up.
He also gives a lot of details on his own feelings during the flight and his personnal thoughts. We are really in his shoes and understand him better thanks to that. I think that is what makes this complain letter so exceptionnal. Most of the complain letters are a little angry. This one explains clearly what the passenger have been through and that he is really in shock that a company actually dares served that kind of food to their passengers and propose such a bad quality of movies. He is using a lot of sense of humor and rhetoric questions in his letter.
This letter made me laugh because after all the bad things he says about this flight; he still says at the beginning and at the end that he really like this company. Altough we could really think the opposite.
It was not hard for me to do that because this letter is easy and a lot of fun to read.
Ken Levine is a game developer, named one of the best 25 blogs of 2011 by TIME magazine. Ken Levine is an Emmy winning writer/director/producer/major league baseball announcer. In a career that has spanned over 30 years Ken has worked on Mash, Cheers, Frasier, The Simpsons, Wings, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker, Dharma & Greg, and has co-created his own series including almost perfect starring Nancy Travis. He and his partner wrote the feature volunteers. Ken has also been the radio/TV play-by-play voice of the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres. For the last three years Ken has hosted Dodger Talk on the Dodger Radio Network. And currently Ken is back with the Mariners, doing play-by-play.
In this letter he is complaining about how the flight companies are lying to the public and how they are not telling us all they know for example about a delayed flight.
He is also pointing at the unefficiency of the customer service when a passenger is trying to have information on his flight and how it doesn't seem to bother them.
This letter is more like a typical complaint letter because we can feel the fact that Ken Levine is angry and really hate all the wait and the frustration the companies make him go through.
I totally understand him. I take the plane very often and how many times a flight is delayed but there is no one to answer the questions you may have or to tell you where to go to find another flight! It is very. frustrating.
It was harder for me to do this letter because I liked the other one better. It was more original and I think it was easier to read.

Sweetheart Florian,
I’m just getting to know the city and getting used to my new life in the Big Apple. Everything is very different from France and from all the places I went to. Everything looks bigger, more crowded than anywhere I’ve been to, especially Times Square.
This place is incredible. There are huge buildings everywhere. I love the energy of

this place. There are so many people from different horizons. You can hear languages from all over the world just by going there. There is everything you need and more. All the stores are so tempting; everything is made to satisfy the tourists’ dreams. But out of all that what I definitely like the most are the lights, especially at night. It is very impressive and I never get tired of watching them. I feel like I’m on another planet.
Even though the city is very different from where I lived before, my life is pretty much the same. I have the same routine everyday. I get up, listen to some music to start my day in a good mood and get ready for class. I always take a long shower to try to wake up properly; you know I’ve never been a morning person. I then take the subway with a friend that I met at school who lives right by my house.
How I wish you could meet her. She is so nice. She helped me with everything and gave me a lot of tips for the everyday life in New York that were very useful. She told me all the best places to go buy food or clothes and shoes. She also introduced me to a lot of her friends that showed me around. We are having so much fun together and getting along very well. She has the strongest temper ever, She is very small but don’t be fooled by her size; she is always speaking her mind. She is a little woman, with blue eyes and short blond hair and some much energy. I think we are getting along so well because our tempers are similar and we share the same passion for basketball.
Talking about short hair, I cut mine few weeks ago and wear it curly again. I remember the last time we saw each other I always had it straight. I also bought a lot of new clothes that I’m pretty sure you would like. Besides my hair and my clothes, I haven’t changed at all physically. But living in a bigger city made me grow up and made me stronger mentally. It is very different to have so many responsibilities and step-by-step, I’m becoming more independent. And as I was saying before I take the subway everyday with this friends to go to class. I always listen to music during this trip.

Most of them actually remind me of you, of us when we were listening to them together. It reminds me of the park in France we went to almost every Sunday afternoon. Do you remember? It was beautiful and so peaceful just laying there in the grass with you, listening to our favorites songs for hours during spring and summer time. The weather was so nice at these times of the year and the colors of the trees so nice. The first flowers were coming out, white, red, pink, yellow and anything else you can imagine. The moments I loved the most were when we would stay long enough to see the sunset when the sky got purple, red, orange, pink and yellow and slowly let the stars and the moon come out. I miss those moments and I miss you.
Tell me everything that has been going on in your life since I left. I want to know everything. How are you? How is your family doing? I hope your little brother Sanjay and your little sister Luna are still as sweet as they were when I left and are doing just fine. Does Luna start school yet? Did Sanjay say his first words? I hope you are doing great too. When are you moving to Paris?
You are always on my mind and I hope I will hear or read from you soon.
I miss you.
Melissa.
